Can anyone provide their expertise? My main concern is the 1550SG between the lugs looks a little funky to me.Also the bevel space between the lugs and bezel isn't as pronounced as on other examples, but I've seen others similar to this. I'm close to pulling the trigger on this one. Later on, these watches were replaced by more modern types and the long-serving ‘Bundeswehr’ watches came to the second-hand and vintage markets. Until the beginning of the 1980ies, this watch never had another name than ‘Bundeswehr’ and always had a 13 digit number on the back, which made it possible to attribute it to the owner and year of make. The are equipped with the robust Valjoux caliber 230, fourfold bolted housing and fly-back function. These mightn't be completely original, but would be 'authentic'. Unlike say French issued Type 21's, the BUND were more likely to make them 'like new' at a service, with bead blasted cases, new bezels etc. This started within the military itself. Far too many, if not the majority have non original parts. More interesting info here.IMHO these really are a very muddied watch as far as finding a 'correct' example goes and care is really needed. The example in your pictures looks pretty good IMHO.The hands don't look like the Sinn non tritium replacements and match the patina of the tritium numerals. All this might explain why they're still quite 'cheap' for a vintage Heuer, especially a flyback that was an issued piece. IMHO new watches were being built from parts stock. Then the internet hit and a suspiciously large number of these watches came along, with suspiciously new looks to match.Parts that were easy to come by suddenly dried up or became extremely expensive. I suspect the Sinn release has influenced this as people got used to seeing them like new. The serial stamps do look a little odd and like you this drew my eye.The 1550 SG is at a more jaunty angle than I would like and the numerals aren't straight. That (3H) adds value so is faked a lot.Or had been added when Sinn were involved because it made the dial more marketable(it gets even sillier when you see the (3H) on non tritium Sinn dials) Now it might well have been later serviced and got the updated service dial and hands when that happened. If the case numbers are right then it's a very early one and the (3H) addition didn't come until later. The (3H) bit would slightly concern me. Personally speaking here? I would largely avoid the Heuer BUND and instead would look for a less likely to be faked 'civilian' version(which won't have a (3H), or an earlier Italian issued Leonidas which are far less likely to be frankens or fakes. If you compare them to my example where the case refinish has nearly rendered them invisible. That said there are quite the variations that are authentic to this watch, so.
